Although this is a family-owned business that is knowledgeable, unfortunately, I did not receive the desired results. It is difficult for me to give a sub-par review as the team is personable, but honesty is crucial. Three areas pertaining to their work resulted in significant disappointment. Firstly, the de-foliation of the landscape and laying of the sod were the main areas of concern. Two areas did not grow the sod. However, the owner pledged to replace portions that did not become sod-covered, and he did not keep his promise on one such place. Secondly, a tree that I explicitly asked them to keep was removed. This led me to have to replace the tree myself, as this company failed to show up again. Thirdly, I asked them to hardscape either side of my driveway, which resulted in them running out of materials several times. The owner offered me less expensive materials than he initially promised to complete the project, and the finished product was full of gaps and short edges that resulted in it being a potential hazard. Additionally, this project cost me an additional $500 more than what was initially quoted. The timeliness of the team was also a concern, as they did not work on the agreed-upon days with no notification that they would not show, and their edging was poor as well. When I informed the owner of my dissatisfaction, he did not rectify the quality concerns nor honor the formally established estimate. While I have no doubts about the quality of work they can produce in other cases, my experience with them was not the best and has become cost-prohibitive. If you are considering hiring them, I would suggest insisting on a formal written estimate prior to any work, broken down by labor and materials. Ensure that you have enough materials to carry out the job adequately and proficiently. Despite how lovely the group may be, demand a proper evaluation. It would be best if you also had any assurances, such as the sod guarantee, in writing. Though new to home-ownership, this experience has been an educational one. I hope heeding this advice can save you time, money, and hassle.
