Description:

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. My name is Jey and I specialize in balanced dog training, which employs all four quadrants of operant conditioning. I strongly believe that each dog learns differently, and therefore, I tailor my training approach to suit the specific needs of every dog and their owner, utilizing a mix of negative and positive reinforcement and correction.

With over 11 years of experience in dog walking, kennel, dog daycare, vet and grooming assistant, house sitting, and rescue work, I have worked with a wide range of dogs in terms of breed, age, and temperament.

As a gesture of my gratitude towards my clients, I offer discounts for elderly clients who are 60 years and over, BIPOC clients as reparation, and fellow LGBTQIA community members (feel free to contact me for more information).

My services are conveniently located in Phinney Ridge, and I cater to clients in the greater Seattle area. I'm also open to travelling to meet clients outside Seattle, having worked with clients as far south as Olympia and as far north as Bellingham.

Jey had been very responsive. My son is large, kind, and anxious... But Jey was equal to the challenge and I am dedicated to the program. The information provided for post-board and train success is comprehensive.

Emerald Dog Training with Jey at the helm has been a godsend and the greatest asset our family has availed so far. No exaggeration. We immediately fell in love with our Australian Labradoodle pup, but found his behavioral management a daunting task. Dealing with his bossy nature, desperate neediness and pronounced FOMO (fear of missing out) was a real challenge, particularly with a young child in the family. We tried several training courses with other outfits but only saw marginal improvement. At the age of 14 months, we decided we needed the solid assistance of a reputable trainer and comprehensive training program to guarantee happiness and well-being for both our family and pet. The 21-day program we enrolled our Tucker in was lovingly dubbed Puppy Bootcamp. We made weekly visits to Tucker and were instructed ourselves to ensure a seamless and successful re-integration back home. We could not have been more elated with the result; Tucker returned as a huge success story! He retained his amiability, inquisitiveness and loveable traits, yet positively thrived with newfound structure. He promptly relinquishes any object in his mouth on cue and can even hold a sit position. This was especially critical since he had a tendency to resource-guard random, non-food articles. Jey astutely discovered that tug-of-war is his preferred 'love language', and Tucker is willing to do almost anything for it as a reward or next activity. This proved invaluable, considering that he is not food-motivated. Tucker now also understands that our youngest child is not his sibling, and he can safely play with him. We could go on and on about how content we are. We strongly recommend taking the plunge and investing in the well-being of your family and companion. You will have absolutely no cause for regret.

At first, I had doubts about enrolling DeeJay in a board-and-train program because I was worried that he would only respond to instructions given by me. However, my concerns were unfounded as my dog made incredible progress working with Jey in just two weeks. DeeJay was a rescue with no prior training, making his newfound skills even more impressive. During my first lesson after DeeJay returned home, I noticed a dramatic difference in his behavior while on a leash. Jey from Emerald truly excels in cutting through the noise of online dog training resources. The guidance I received from Jey debunked some of the myths that I had believed about how dogs learn. I gained a newfound understanding of how much or how little of what I say and do can impact my dog's training. By implementing what we learned in the program, DeeJay has become more confident and understands what I expect from him. Additionally, my aches and pains from DeeJay's previous pulling on the leash are a thing of the past. Recently, while out walking, we encountered two Spaniels on leashes with their owners. Despite their owners struggling to keep them calm and under control, DeeJay walked by without issue. When he briefly glanced at the growling dogs, a gentle "heel" command returned his attention to me, which I praised him for. This progress is a testament to the success of the board-and-train program and the excellent guidance from Jey.

Our consultation with Jey was exceptional! Jey pinpointed areas of improvement that could be made by us as owners and highlighted Chupa's potential to be an outstanding dog. Knowing that we were relocating to Alaska before we could arrange a board/train session, Jey provided us with valuable advice on how to address Chupa's nervousness while on the leash and to sounds in our home. Additionally, she suggested some tools and resources to help us in this process. We are extremely grateful to Emerald Dog Training for guiding us in the right direction for our canine family!
