After a hiatus of 15 years, I returned to drumming with a desire to improve my abilities beyond just playing notes. As someone with intermediate-level experience in high school and college, I sought out a knowledgeable musician who could help me develop a rock-solid pocket across a variety of music styles.
During my first lesson with Mike, he conducted an all-encompassing evaluation of my playing style, skill level, and technique. He quickly pinpointed key areas in which my technique was lacking and offered helpful exercises to make immediate adjustments and unlock new capabilities.

A superb educator, Mike is attentive, considerate, and motivational. I initially opposed virtual lessons during the pandemic, assuming they would not benefit me, but I now admit my error. Mike delivers constructive criticism on my drum recordings, offers instruction to overcome my limitations, and provides additional exercises to broaden my repertoire. He calmly responds to all my queries, and generously writes out drum parts whenever I inquire about playing a particular fill in a song. Mike's guidance has proven invaluable to me as a novice drummer.
