Description:

My name is David and teaching guitar to students of all ages is my passion. I aim to enrich people's lives with music either in person within a 50-mile radius or online. Customized guitar lesson workbooks designed in consideration of each student's individual needs are the keystone of my music program, catering to a vast array of ages, learning styles, and levels of proficiency. My curriculum comprises several music styles, from electric to acoustic, and I have honed my skills in tutoring beginners, teenagers, children, and adults throughout my 18 years of experience as an actively working school teacher.

Graduated from the New York Conservatory of Music and attained a B.A with a Concentration in Studio Composition in 2001. Later in 2008, I completed my M.A.T in Adolescence Education from Manhattanville College NY with an impressive 3.56 GPA.

My students learn everything there is to know about guitar theory, technique, and song form. I take it upon myself to ensure that my students grasp concepts like rhythm, scales, melody, songs, exercises, and good practice habits. And the music genres we explore are as diverse as they come!

At the start of each session, I interview my students to tailor lessons to their specific needs, taking into account their struggles and strengths with regards to technique, chords, scales or theory, and exercises. With my custom-made guitar toolbox, my students will have a wealth of resources, knowledge, and information to consolidate their skills and reinforce their guitar playing habits.

My guitar toolbox is simply a no-frills, customized organized guitar lesson workbook, honed over many years of teaching guitar lessons to students aged 6 to 70. Music, to me, is a creative process, and I encourage my students to open their minds to all genres of music. I promote taking small, intentional steps with each lesson and showcase the possibilities of unlocking students' creativity. As a student, I won an award in college for being the most improved studio composition student.

My two decades of experience as a teacher, musician, composer, and performer are the reasons why I stand out. I pride myself on having the patience and understanding to meet the unique needs of my students' learning styles. I have the necessary knowledge, skill set, and an educational background that paves the way to helping my students learn all about the guitar. The ultimate goal for my students is not just to be able to play their favorite songs, but to create a skillful music practice to enjoy for a lifetime.
