As a professional baritone and string player, the concept of a "singing tone" is not just a figure of speech to me. I have a genuine appreciation for the beautiful teamwork and close interplay that chamber music offers, whether performing or coaching. Even the most simple melodies can have character, an exquisite sound, and a clear sense of phrasing - this is what truly turns music into an art form and a joy.
Although the Suzuki Method may standardize the music that children learn, every student possesses a unique personality and mood. Therefore, I never feel as though I am teaching the same lesson twice - each session is tailored to the individual.
My credentials include three years of traditional violin study with Itzhak Perlman's master teacher, Dorothy Delay. Additionally, I have completed two years of Suzuki Method training at the School for Strings under the guidance of founder Louise Behrend. With over 20 years of teaching experience, including time spent at the Brooklyn and Queens CUNY campuses, I hold three degrees in my field and am licensed to teach music in both New Jersey and New York.

With great pleasure, I attest that Mr. Hyman was a remarkable violin teacher to both my son and daughter for a period of over 10 years. The length of time they spent with him attests to my high regard for his teaching skills. He was always punctual and approachable, accommodating changes in lesson schedules with flexibility. As a highly accomplished violinist, he has a profound appreciation for music that transferred to how he taught my kids. Beyond the technical aspects of playing the violin, he instilled in them the ability to enjoy and appreciate music as an art form. Without his guidance, my children would not have excelled as violists. I hold Mr. Hyman in high esteem as a teacher and readily recommend him to friends and families in need of a talented violin instructor.

With decades of experience, Dan is an exceptional teacher who excels in motivating children through even the most difficult stages of learning. His ability to connect with children, like our son with Asperger's, whose behavior can be challenging, is unparalleled. Dan found innovative ways to relate to our son's interests and manage his atypical behavior. For these reasons, we wholeheartedly recommend Daniel Hyman.
