Hey there! I'm Claire and I've been teaching private violin, fiddle, and viola lessons for 12 years. Recently, I began teaching guitar lessons which I've been doing for the past 4 years. Currently, I offer lessons at the Vestal Museum for students of all ages starting at 7 years old.
My studio has 16 students, the youngest being 7 and my oldest student is 76 years old. In my classical lessons, I use the Suzuki books to teach proper technique, music theory, and musicianship. My students typically attend BCMEA, NYSSMA, and many are part of Binghamton Youth Symphony.
For fiddle lessons, we focus on learning traditional old-time and bluegrass fiddle tunes as well as improvisation. Every lesson is tailored to the student's age and learning style.
Acoustic guitar lessons include learning to read tabs, playing chords, and various styles of strumming. I also cover music theory which includes chord structures and progressions. My background is in folk music which I incorporate into lesson plans.
In terms of my education, I've been playing for 28 years and received private lessons for years. I attended SUNY Fredonia where I pursued a degree in Violin Performance and Sound Engineering. Performing for a living and teaching brings me great joy!
