Ever since I was a child, I've been captivated by the beauty industry. However, my journey began to unfold 15 years ago when I was employed at Clinique as a counter consultant donning a white lab coat. It was here that I was afforded an opportunity to learn about extensive skincare and makeup, opening doors that would lead me to the career I revel in today. I was residing in the small town of Walla Walla, Washington, where there was only so much makeup one could apply to one's friends. Thus, when a chance arose to move to the Bay Area and join Estee Lauder's Freelance Makeup Artist group, I seized it. Despite my time with the company, I discerned that my ardor was for working independently. I believed that I could bring more to the table as a one-woman show, and so, with experience gained from working with such companies, I established my enterprise, Chels Kay Beauty Co.
Artists within our industry find gratification in the outcomes we achieve for our clients. The overall result, the moment when you present them with a mirror and witness their initial glimpse at their transformed selves, is incredibly satisfying, as it confirms that the vision they had in their minds has been realized. Not only does it make them feel better than ever, but it makes you feel accomplished, for you are the creator. I am incredibly proud of my customers, and I take pride in my work. I am passionate about everything I do, from the travel to the tools and the art involved. Whether I'm doing hair or makeup, it is a chance for me to unleash my creativity and create something that makes others feel fantastic. There is no better feeling than this!
My passion for hair styling was sparked when a friend requested that I style her hair for her wedding, and her stylist canceled at the last minute. At that point, I had no experience with hair styling, zero. Thank goodness for YouTube! After completing her updo, I discovered that I had another craft to add to my repertoire, and I thoroughly enjoyed the result! After plenty of experimentation, practice models, and real occasions, hair styling has become another facet that I enjoy and complements my makeup artistry perfectly.
