Entering my eighth year as a bilingual teacher, the thought of being on CBS' Survivor was never even a consideration. However, after losing my foot to cancer during that school year, I trained for triathlons and eventually found myself competing on the popular show, full of unexpected twists and turns. Since that experience, I have set numerous goals for myself and achieved each one with pride, from winning medals in snowboarding and mountain biking competitions to scaling the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro as a benefit for the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
For over seven years, I have worked as a motivational speaker, sharing my story and the tools that have helped me thrive. I have been humbled to speak at numerous high schools, colleges, universities, and corporations, but my proudest moment came when I was invited to present to her highness Sheikha Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan and members of the royal family at the Forum for New Ideas in Abu Dhabi.
My talks cover a wide range of topics, including motivation and inspiration for all levels, particularly in higher education. As a Survivor contestant, my story is packed with challenges overcome and conceptual tools that can help others achieve their own goals. My presentations are a lighthearted mix of humor, practical goal-setting, and inspiration, that leave attendees feeling ready to tackle whatever life throws their way.
