Description:

Greetings, fellow cello enthusiasts! 🎻

I am a professional cellist, instructor, and music event coordinator based in New York City. With over 10 years of experience teaching cello, I welcome students of all skill levels, many of whom have excelled and achieved top scores on NYSSMA and All State Auditions, and have attained first chair positions in school orchestras. My curriculum includes Suzuki Method, String Builder, Schroeder, Werner, Dotzauer, Lee, and any other methods my students may be interested in.

As a passionate instructor, my primary goal is to instill a deep appreciation for music in my students. By creating an enjoyable and enriching experience for them, I hope that music remains an integral part of their lives.

In addition to teaching, I have had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, and many other prestigious venues. My contributions to Ensemble 212, Secret Opera, Mannes American Composer Ensemble, Mannes Orchestra, Regina Opera and The Hollows as an artist-in-residence are among my most notable accomplishments. I have also participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Johannes Moser, Matt Haimovitz, Timothy Eddy, Peter Wiley, Paul Katz, and Bonnie Hampton. In recognition of my talent, I earned a merit scholarship and Goldsmith Foundation Award for my studies at Mannes School of Music, where I obtained my undergraduate, master's degree, and Professional Studies Diploma. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree in cello performance at Stony Brook University with a full scholarship.

I am now offering virtual lessons worldwide via Zoom. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for more information!

For three years, I have collaborated with Jihwon and my playing and practice have intensified. The exercises, songs, lessons, and suggestions are all so compelling that I can't seem to get enough of them (each with the best of intentions, mind you)! Without a doubt, she is introducing me to the wonderful world of cello playing, and things keep getting better with each passing day. I highly recommend Jihwon's services to anyone who is looking to improve their skills.

For the past two years, my children have been receiving tutoring from Jihwon. She possesses extensive knowledge in her subject, demonstrates patience towards her students, and is extremely kind. Her classes are eagerly awaited by my children every weekend.

I have been studying with her for several months now. She provides careful instruction, addressing everything from posture to musical nuances. Thanks to her guidance, my sound has greatly improved. Her approach to teaching musical concepts is also exceptional. After just one lesson with her, I noticed a significant improvement in my bowing technique and my sound became rich and full.

Finding Jihwon has brought me immense happiness! After three years of playing cello, it was challenging to locate a teacher who could meet my daughter's needs post-pandemic. However, now that she has started taking cello lessons with Jihwon, my daughter is overjoyed and making remarkable progress.

Later today, I will have my inaugural session with cello instructor Jihwon, and thus far, our communication has been impeccable. Her reputation comes highly recommended by numerous individuals.
