Based in Los Angeles, California, I am a seasoned professional musician offering guitar and bass lessons. My expertise is available in-person at my Hollywood studio or online through platforms like Zoom or Skype.
With over a decade of teaching experience and two decades of playing experience, I am capable of instructing individual private lessons, small groups, and large classes. I am well-versed in essential musical concepts like timing, technique, repertoire, music theory, sight-reading, improvisation, and songwriting. Moreover, I am proficient in teaching various instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, banjo, mandolin, and piano. My forte lies in teaching various music styles including jazz, classical, rock, funk, soul, country, and bluegrass.
Apart from music instruction, I have had an exciting touring career since the age of 21. My performances have taken me across the USA, Canada, China, and Taiwan, including the Sea Hear Now Music Festival and tours with the Eagles of Death Metal.

I have been playing the guitar intermittently for most of my life and would classify myself as an intermediate player. Throughout the years, I have taken lessons from four to five different instructors. With both of my children now out of the house, I have recently decided to pick up the guitar once again. I came across Brent through a program similar to the "School of Rock" and must say that he is an incredibly warm and welcoming individual who exudes a pressure-free demeanor. His vast knowledge of the guitar is readily apparent, and he will adeptly tailor his approach to match his students' learning pace, bringing them to the next level. What really stood out to me about Brent was his use of a structured curriculum rather than just randomly addressing his student's needs. Another impressive aspect of Brent's instruction is his ability to teach modes and advanced theories smoothly and in a way that demonstrates how they overlap (such as major modes to pentatonic). My only regret is Brent moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. I highly recommend Brent Bergholm without hesitation.
