Upon John's arrival, I was thoroughly impressed with his promptness and the amount of information he provided me with. As someone who dreads the thought of mice in my home, I was particularly interested in how BioTech planned to deal with them. John informed me that the mice were not permanent residents, but instead came and went through various entry points. He then showed me the locations of these entry points and assured me that BioTech would seal them all, and if I spotted any new activity, I could count on them to return promptly due to their guaranteed 1-year warranty. I was sold and pleased with the service so I agreed to it. During the walk-through, John even took the time to remove a dead mouse from my closet which spoke volumes about his professionalism and attentiveness.
On the day of installation, Derrick arrived with a lot of equipment and got right to work. I had another contractor arrive at the same time, so I wasn't able to give Derrick my full attention. But every time he came back into the house, I asked him a few questions to make sure I understood every task to complete everything correctly. However, I remained concerned about how the mice would get out while Derrick sealed the entry points. So, I asked Derrick how the mice would get out, and he suggested I use sticky mouse traps with peanut butter or dog food to bait them, or anything that would draw them in. To me, this sounded outrageously cruel, so I shared my concerns with Derrick. He then apologized and said, "John should have told you that we don't provide traps." I felt as though the price I had paid should have included traps, but apparently, that was not the case.
I discussed my concerns with a friend and decided to reach out to the BioTech office regarding my suggestion to inform customers to have mouse traps and to clarify expectations. Unfortunately, I never received a call back from the owner, which was quite disappointing. I even discovered that the sealant Derrick used was from Home Depot, which made me realize that, with some research and knowledge, I could have sealed the holes myself and saved a lot of money. Nonetheless, I hope they respond in a timely manner when it comes to honoring the warranty, despite the lack of response to this situation.
Overall, the experience left me with mixed feelings of satisfaction and disappointment.
