Description:

Unfortunately, it is common knowledge that a majority of "bass teachers" are actually guitarists attempting to make some extra cash by teaching bass. Even when a legitimate bassist is available for lessons, they frequently exhibit a lack of engagement with their local music scene and show little to no experience in a recording studio.

Prior to the pandemic, I was averaging 180 live shows each year as a member of multiple bands, including Crack The Sky, a progressive rock group signed to Carry On Music and recently highlighted in Rolling Stone Magazine. Additionally, I performed with Several Species Pink Floyd Tribute, Petty Coat Junction (a Tom Petty tribute) and the Dave DeMarco Band, as well as participating in numerous last-minute fill-ins. Throughout my career, I have played on countless studio sessions for notable entities like HBO and ESPN and have contributed to over 45 CDs featuring some of the most well-regarded names in contemporary music. If you aspire to learn the bass guitar, there is likely no better teacher to learn from than someone who is actively engaged in every critical stage of music production on a regular basis.

One of the most gratifying aspects of my job is assisting my students in achieving their objectives, regardless of whether they are modest ambitions like playing along with their favorite tunes or professional aspirations. Every time a former student performs on stage, I feel like a proud parent! Similarly, I'm delighted when I receive emails from past pupils informing me of their musical success. Although I may not receive the honor of having a hospital wing named after me, these experiences make me feel just as proud.

With Dave, you're dealing with a true professional. I enlisted him for some studio recording and his playing was nothing short of remarkable. He conjured up some incredible bass lines and was a pleasure to collaborate with, always arriving on time and ready to roll. I don't hesitate to suggest him for any gig, be it a grand affair or a modest undertaking that requires his bass skills.

Dave is an exceptionally tolerant and empathetic bassist. He invests substantial effort in elucidating each minute aspect that would ultimately aid in fostering one's bass-playing skills. Hats off to CrackerJack for discovering such a gem.

Having been Dave's student in the past, I can confidently attest to his competence as a bass guitar teacher. In a span of a year, I was able to go from being unfamiliar with the strings to playing some songs, albeit only the bass part, thanks to Dave's exceptional guidance. He is a highly adept and adaptable instructor who personalizes his lessons according to your preferences. Moreover, he is amenable to remote teaching sessions through Skype, which truly comes in handy in traffic-congested Maryland.
