Anna Patterson | Professional Ballerina & Coach
Greetings dancers!
My name is Anna, and I am a dance instructor and professional ballet dancer currently located in Charlotte, NC. My mission is to refine your technique, develop your artistry and bolster your self-confidence during our lessons. My curriculum includes dance anatomy, theory, injury prevention and career preparation for those eager to launch their dance careers. Precision and correct foundational technique are emphasized during our private sessions to ensure maximum benefit for my students. Zoom classes and in-studio lessons are both available, and I will personalize each lesson to cater to your individual needs - whether you are a first-year beginner or a pre-professional dancer with continuing career aspirations.
Artistry is the foundation of dance, and I believe in cultivating it through focusing on upper body placement, épaulement, dance imagery, and musicality. My goal is to create a nurturing and encouraging learning environment that inspires the joy of dancing and fosters the love of learning and improving.
I offer private lessons for Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Ballroom, Wedding First Dance Choreography, Ballet Fitness, Character Dance, and Competition Coaching. ALL LESSONS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE.
A little bit about me: I started my classical ballet training at the young age of five, and have been dancing ever since. My early training included classical ballet technique at the Charlotte School of Ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) and the Cecchetti Method, where I received numerous awards of "Distinction" and "Highly Commended." In 2009, I performed with the Moscow Ballet in The Great Russian Nutcracker while they toured in Charlotte, NC. Over the years, I have studied various styles of dance including Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Ballroom, and Character Dance. My training continued in New York City under world-renowned ballerina and former partner of Mikhail Baryshnikov, Gelsey Kirkland, at her school, where I was trained in the Vaganova and Bournonville methods of ballet technique.
As a corps de ballet member of the U.S. International Ballet during my senior year of high school, I was invited to join the company for the 2019/2020 season at the Columbia Classical Ballet Company. I have danced in numerous ballets including Giselle, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Red Riding Hood, and The Wizard of Oz. While still pursuing my professional dance career, I have found a passion for teaching dance to all ages. My aim is to inspire the joy of ballet and its rich history to the next generation.
Please note my 24-hour cancellation policy, and in-person lessons may incur an additional studio rental fee depending on location.
Thank you for considering me as your dance instructor- I cannot wait to work with you!
