Hello, I'm Andrew, a music teacher and performer with more than 10 years of experience. I offer both virtual and in-person music lessons to those living in/around Philadelphia. Let's connect over a call to discuss your musical interests and objectives! Check out my professional background and musical journey below.
My passion for music and songwriting began in middle school and propelled me across various locales in my pursuit of sharing the power of music. After receiving lessons in piano and trombone in my earlier years, I discovered my love for the guitar, which prompted me to study both jazz guitar and orchestral trombone throughout high school. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Wesleyan University before accepting an opportunity to design and deliver a songwriting class to high school students in South Africa, which I called "In My Own Voice."
After returning to the United States, I joined the K-8th grade Alexandria Country Day School in Virginia, where I oversaw the chorus program, directed the band ensemble, and led the junior high symphonic orchestra. My teaching style prioritizes the individual's ability to choose their own material and take control of their creative process. Nowadays, I serve as the lead vocalist for FeelFree, my band, which won the best reggae album at Washington DC's Wammy Awards and performs approximately 70 concerts each year. I've released three albums on major streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify, with over 10,000 active monthly listeners.
When I'm not involved with music, teaching, or performing, I like to cook and challenge others to funny-face contests. My music lessons include piano, guitar, trombone, and songwriting/composition.
