Description:

My name is Anu, and I work as a yoga instructor. Having been brought up in India, I relinquished my religion, nationality, and engineering degree to spread my passion for yoga. In my opinion, yoga not only stretches our body but also opens our mind, and I believe in its ability to provide the courage needed to break free of self-imposed limits and be one's true self.

My ultimate aim in One-to-One yoga sessions is to customize your yoga routines to your unique needs so that you can maintain consistent growth in your practice. Rather than focusing on increasing your flexibility, I strive to help you experience how a serene mindset can revolutionize your everyday existence.

For more than a year now, I have been practicing Yoga with Anu and it has been an amazing experience. Anu is not only a highly passionate individual when it comes to Yoga, but he is also a truly remarkable human being.

Upon commencing with America Needs Yoga, I had initially intended to participate solely in the initial 12-week program. Having taken a lengthy hiatus from yoga, returning to the practice had proven challenging. However, working with Anu has been a transformative experience. Under his guidance, I have experienced progress in areas I had not previously thought possible. His approach strikes the perfect equilibrium between compassion and inspiration, striking just the right balance to spur on my development.

Only 8 months ago, I was struggling with an ischemic stroke and a heart valve replacement surgery. Given slim chances of survival, I was successful in the surgery but the struggle was hard as it was the closest I had ever been to death. To make matters worse, the doctors informed me that I would be wheelchair-bound for the rest of my life. However, after months of rigorous physical and occupational therapy, I was able to leave the hospital with just a cane. The experience left me deeply depressed and even suicidal. One day, while on my way to a follow-up doctor's appointment, I took an Uber and opened up to the driver about my situation. He suggested yoga as a form of healing. Although skeptical, he explained how it was based on breathing and offered me a free session. Anu, the Uber driver, slowly introduced me to some breathing techniques and stretches that I could do despite my left side weakness. From the moment I set foot on the mat, I felt a spiritual connection that lifted the stress from my mind and body. Every session left me feeling more at peace and I started sleeping better. Now, I practice yoga once a week and continue to meditate on my own. This journey has enlightened me spiritually and taught me things that no therapist or antidepressant ever could. I'm grateful to Anu for saving me.
