Hello there, my name is Coach Mac. For the past 14 years, I have been coaching softball on both the club and private levels. My forte lies in teaching female athletes how to take charge of their mechanics and body movement, enabling them to correct themselves during games as well as practice at home. My coaching expertise extends from beginners to advanced levels, where the initial focus lies in establishing a solid foundation of good mechanics, increasing speed, and developing pitch accuracy. As students progress under my guidance, I include advanced pitch development in my training. While my primary focus is internal rotation pitching, I am adept in training windmill and can assist windmill pitchers to improve or transition their mechanics.
In addition to my coaching experience, I hold a background in psychology and sports medicine. I provide a holistic approach to my athletes' development that includes dynamic warm-up/cool-down routines, specialized stretches for female athletes, and training in the mental game of pitching, enabling the pitchers to read their batters and adjust their movement and speed accordingly.
For private lessons, I start with an evaluation lesson to determine if we are a good fit for each other. Based on the pitcher's goals and current ability, I create a custom plan. I have assisted several pitchers in increasing their speed within only a few lessons while also alleviating prior pain or mechanic concerns through my finer-tuned mechanic focus. During my daughter's 10u-12u playing years, she benefited from training with Coach Mac. Unfortunately, we had to end our lessons because Coach Mac relocated out of state. Nevertheless, Coach Mac was instrumental in my daughter's growth as a player from both physical and mental perspectives. The lessons focused on essential techniques as well as the mental aspect of the game. My daughter developed a connection with Coach Mac, which translated to an improvement in her gameplay. Makayla is an amazing individual! She collaborated with several players on our Pennsylvania travel team, specializing primarily in pitching but excelling in other softball areas as well. She assesses the players, recognizes their advantages and limitations, and conceives drills to improve them. She provides great support but can also be stern when she observes inadequate effort.
