Having employed various contractors during our recent renovation project, Hugo is the only one that has left us feeling entirely satisfied. Last week, my basement experienced flooding and I urgently needed to address and repair the issue before anticipated rainfall. On Sunday, I spent the entire day calling and requesting quotes from multiple contractors. Fortunately, Hugo was the last contractor I spoke with, and his manner of communication was reassuring, as he avoided using unfamiliar terms and thoroughly explained the job expectations, while taking measurements prior to providing a quote. Importantly, he listened to my financial situation and my intentions, which I appreciated. The quote was delivered as anticipated, and he was ready to commence work the following day. Hugo was professional and even offered an additional recommendation to address the drainage and water-proofing concern I first contacted him for. He ensured the work area was spotless and landscaping was restored to its original state. His work is first-rate, and I plan on recommending him to friends and family, in addition to employing his services for further work in my backyard in the coming weeks.

These guys are amazing! I needed an effective drainage solution to divert water away from my foundation, so I approached Hugo Cuevas, who put me at ease with his impressive background and experience. Instead of the usual black corrugated hose that I was anticipating, Hugo recommended a 4" PVC piping system equipped with a pop-up valve for easy water distribution at the end of the line. This nifty valve lowers down to the ground level as the water pressure drops, which is pretty impressive! To prevent debris build-up in the downspout, Hugo installed flush out valves at the end of the line, which can be easily cleared with a water hose. I loved this feature too! These guys were prompt, professional, and offered a fair price. They even carried out the installation the next day!

On a rainy Sunday, Hugo and his crew of four, which included his sons, arrived to fix a crack in the exterior. They installed an exterior membrane and diverted downspouts to prevent future leaks. The clogged downspout was likely the source of the issue. The workmanship was expert, and the cost was appropriate given the intensive manual labor required. I cannot praise Hugo Cuevas, the Owner, and his staff enough. They were always timely, polite, genuine, attentive and exceptionally professional. What impressed me the most was their willingness to take on a project that hardly anyone else was interested in pursuing. The basement had no external entrance or windows, and required an enormous amount of dirt being hauled up the stairs, through the house, piece by piece. Despite this, they ensured that the area remained neat and tidy. The team diligently dug through the limited crawl spaces, in some areas only 17” high, replacing the entire joist system. The room was previously so small that we had to bend down to get in. However, after their hard work, a space that is now 7-8 feet tall provides plenty of room to stand and walk comfortably for storage, and more. They excavated the soil, lowered the dirt floor by 18”, levelled the entire room and laid a new cement floor. They built new foundation walls with reinforced footings, moved the water heater from its central location to the side wall, leaving the centre open, and installed a pump drainage system. What was once a dingy basement with erosion and mud has become a clean, versatile space. Every day, the team worked tirelessly with mud from head to toe, always with a smile – even working some 12-hour days! Hugo’s son, Antonio, worked equally as hard by his father's side throughout the project. By the end of our experience, the team had become family. The pricing was reasonable and transparent.
