For around two decades, I have been playing bass and have become skilled in all genres including rock, funk, jazz, Latin, jam, fusion, country, folk, bluegrass, classical, and more. As we embark on a learning journey, we shall draw inspiration from an array of artists such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, Green Day, J.S. Bach, Charlie Parker, Jaco Pastorius, and anybody else of your choice.
My approach towards music and bass takes a comprehensive outlook, whereby I'll guide you in improving rhythm, sight reading, ear training, theory, and harmony. Since my goal is to provide individual attention, I only take up a limited number of students. I believe that music lessons should be enjoyable, and I'm glad to teach whatever interests you.
My passion for music extends beyond personal gratification, for it's a medium of bettering ourselves and networking with people. The bands I've played in have gifted me with lifelong friendships, and the performances I've partaken in have blessed me with some of my happiest memories, and it's an honor to share that with others.

Feeling a mixture of anticipation and apprehension, I entered my initial session with Alex. Despite my previous experience with other musical instruments, I had never attempted to play bass and was somewhat daunted by the challenge. Nevertheless, the difficulty of mastering an upright bass was appealing to me. Although I was aware that beginning lessons on any instrument can be challenging, I was determined to persevere. Alex displayed an exceptional level of patience with me, assuaging my doubts and making me feel at ease. His encouragement and positive feedback bolstered my confidence as I navigated the complexities of playing the bass. While being supportive, Alex also challenged me by setting high expectations and pushing me to do better. As a result of his guidance, I learned several scales and left the session with blisters on my fingers. Overall, I considered my first lesson a victory and eagerly anticipated our next encounter.
