My teaching philosophy centers around ensuring a love and passion for music and your instrument. I don't adhere strictly to any particular system; instead, I enjoy helping my students navigate their unique journey towards playing an instrument or creating music. Although learning an instrument can be challenging, my top priority is to make sure my students enjoy playing music.

Music has been my lifelong passion, which began in the 3rd grade when I joined my school band. I received my first guitar in 5th grade and went on to earn my B.A in Music from UC Riverside in 2013. In 2012, I received the "Best Soundtrack" award from CMF, an international film competition for college students. Since then, I have been actively teaching and working as a producer, composer, and mixer throughout the Oakland and greater Bay Area. Stephen is a compassionate and encouraging teacher who tailors his instruction to meet your individual needs and interests. When I expressed my eagerness to learn songs, music theory, and experience the joy of playing music, he readily accommodated my requests. His lessons were structured in a way that allowed me to quickly strum along to my favorite tunes while also receiving the right amount of guidance and advice to improve my playing, without feeling overwhelmed. Moreover, he provides access to a google folder containing all lesson materials, which is incredibly useful, and he's always ready to answer any questions I have about theory or technique.
