For over 40 years, Academy Dog Training by Haywood has been established in the DC area. Our goal has always been to enlighten pet owners that even a simple stroll can turn into a thrilling journey for their furry friends. We aim to educate both dogs and their owners on how to effectively communicate and learn through our 3 step balanced approach to training.

Regardless of whether we are working with puppies or dogs with aggressive tendencies, our mission has always been to enhance the quality of life for all dogs and their families through education. To date, we have brought over 3000 dogs and their families closer through training and physical fitness. It is critical for the health of the relationship that owners have with their dogs, as neglect can result in the unfortunate event of dogs being sent to shelters or even worse. We strive to ensure that this does not occur.

Mr. Haywood and his team of dog trainers are incredibly kind. Surprisingly, our Wheaten Terrier has proven to be much more intelligent than we initially gave her credit for, and is now responding to our commands beyond our expectations. Moreover, we have consistently availed of their boarding services whenever we are out of town, and are thoroughly satisfied with their ongoing assistance.

My collaboration with Mr. Haywood was amazing as he not only trained dogs but their owners too. My pet, Rocko, was often fearful and exhibited aggression towards other dogs. However, within just three classes, Rocko made remarkable progress and was able to sit next to his fellow canines, something he had never done before. My german shepherd mix, Chai, has evolved into a transformed dog after completing the fundamental obedience program. Before the program, Chai exhibited aggression, impulsiveness, reactivity, and a profound fear of children. During our assessment, Chai displayed barking and snarling behavior towards a stuffed dog in their office. Nevertheless, by the conclusion of the course, Chai was eagerly obeying commands in a group with more than ten canines. The most valuable benefit we obtained from this training is the necessary skills to succeed. I highly recommend Haywood and his team, they are worth every dime spent.
