About
Greetings!

Please refrain from approaching me for lessons unless you have a definite interest in learning from me. I reside in New York City and am only capable of conducting in-person sessions within the state. Zoom lessons are also offered as an alternative. My rates are $100 for a one-hour online session, $80 for a 45-minute session, and $60 for a 30-minute session. Additional expenses may apply to in-person arrangements.

Each of my classes is customized based on your unique preferences, hobbies, and objectives. I invest additional effort to ensure that every lesson is comprehensible and that you have sufficient material to work on. Our sessions will be relaxed and unhurried. I typically schedule a one-hour session but will not conclude the session until I am satisfied that my students have thoroughly absorbed the knowledge imparted to them.

With my more than 20 years of professional musical expertise, I am well-placed to provide industry guidance beyond just instrument training. I happily teach students of all ages, with a particular passion for aiding those who acquire music skills at a later stage in life. Zoom lessons come with a video recording of the lesson and a corresponding PDF summary that is practical and useful. I enjoy teaching a diverse array of music genres, including jazz, metal, rock, classical, funk, blues, country, and world music.

I have provided musical support with guitar, bass, or keys for renowned musicians such as Rickie Lee Jones, Vernon Reid, Sean Lennon, Denis Leary, Michael Leonhart Orchestra, Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, Cibo Matto, Banned From Utopia, Project/Object, Tom Morello, Street Sweeper Social Club, The Nightwatchman, The Grandmothers of Invention, A New World (Final Fantasy Chamber Orchestra concerts).

I have also graced various television programs across the world such as CBS' David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Craig Ferguson, among others. Additionally, I have worked with actors who embody musical roles (Not Fade Away - Paramount Vantage films, Jersey Boys, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll -FX Network).

Previously, I served as a transcriptionist for Guitar World Magazine and other notable publications, and continue to accept private assignments for transcription work.

Regarding discounts, if a student commits to paying for four classes in advance, a discount can be arranged.

Rob's guitar teaching skills are extraordinary. He is meticulous and attentive while imparting insights and gives sheet music and video lessons after each class to follow up. Despite having taken classes for merely a month or two, I've seen an enormous improvement in my skills. I highly recommend him!

Robbie's assistance has been instrumental in overcoming my guitar plateau. Despite years of experience, I found myself limited to playing just variations of the same concepts. However, Robbie's lessons served as the perfect antidote to this rut. He has an extensive knowledge of the guitar (both theory and practical application) and imparts this knowledge through stimulating concepts and exercises that motivate you to play better. Without a doubt, working with Robbie has helped me improve my playing skills significantly.

My experience with Mr. Mangano was phenomenal. In addition to his vast knowledge and talent, he exudes warmth and charm, making every session a delightful experience. He constantly pushed me both physically and mentally, devising a new set of challenges in each lesson that noticeably enhanced my thinking and ability as a guitarist. While the website only permits selecting three adjectives (work quality, responsiveness, and value) to describe him, his punctuality and professionalism were equally impressive, and should not be disregarded. Having had a string of unsatisfactory teachers in the past, Mr. Mangano's approach was like a breath of fresh air. At $200 per hour, numerous instructors offer an inferior, less customized, and less comfortable experience. No doubt about it, investing your time and money with him is a superb decision.

For more than 15 years, I have pursued my passion for music by playing and taking lessons. Without a doubt, few teachers compare to Robbie Mangano in terms of his teaching excellence. His expertise as a musician is remarkable, and he possesses an extraordinary level of knowledge. But what sets him apart is his remarkable ability to simplify techniques and make them more approachable. This is because his teaching style is designed to teach practical guitar techniques by incorporating songs that I enjoy listening to. Hence, even though some guitar practices might be dull or unappealing, Robbie Mangano helps me learn by teaching me through my preferred songs. His support, enthusiasm, and kindness make him an incredible guitar teacher who brings great energy to each lesson. I can't recommend him enough to anyone who's looking for a guitar teacher, regardless of their skill level.

After just a few lessons with Robbie, I can confidently say that he is an exceptional teacher. As an incredible guitar player himself, he quickly picked up the riffs that I had been struggling with for ages and carefully went through each one with me. Robbie has a unique talent for providing clear and understandable instruction on what I need to focus on in order to improve, breaking it down into actionable and practical steps. Our lessons are conducted remotely through Zoom, with the added bonus of receiving recordings afterwards that allow me to revisit the valuable lessons I've learned. I am thoroughly enjoying my time working with Robbie and look forward to continuing to grow as a musician under his guidance.
