About
Greetings! I am Christine, and I am excited to assist your child, or you, with the music education of the cello!I obtained both my Bachelors and Masters in Music from the prestigious Juilliard School. Currently, I am pursuing a post-graduate degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music while working freelance in the Bay Area teaching and playing concerts. I have taught at Bay Area’s own Notes by the Bay Festival, and I was a teaching assistant to Jonathan Koh at the Meadowmount School of Music. When I lived in New York, I spent two years at the premier Suzuki school for children, School for Strings, and participated in the Suzuki Pedagogy Training Seminar. I had the opportunity to work closely with children in group classes and beginner development.
I have been teaching cello and chamber music for 10+ years, and I delight in working with students of all ages to accomplish their musical aspirations. I also endeavor to facilitate the joy of classical music. I have assisted students in joining local youth orchestras and winning competitions.
I offer both individual and group lessons and am considerate of each student’s preferred teaching method. My approach involves maintaining a positive and inspiring attitude.

About a year ago, I first experienced Christine's impressive Cello quartet performance at a Groupmuse event. Later, a friend of mine, who is also a cellist, introduced me to her personally.
I count myself very fortunate to have started learning the Cello, practically from scratch, 10 months ago with Christine's expert tutelage. She even assisted me in selecting the perfect Cello, after trying out several.
Teaching is already challenging, but it's even more challenging to find a dedicated teacher like Christine, who motivates and pushes her students based on their individual learning curves.
In summary, I have nothing but admiration for Christine and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone interested in learning the Cello. By the way, a friend advised me to have trial lessons to get a sense of compatibility as we all have different preferences.

Since December 2021, I have been receiving cello lessons from Christine. As a 57-year-old, it is natural to question whether one could ever master the cello, let alone sound good while playing it. Previously, I had taken lessons from another instructor, but I always felt that my playing wasn't up to par. However, with Christine's guidance, I have surpassed my expectations and have become a skilled cellist. She is an exceptional instructor!
