However, the project also included demolishing the kitchen, re-plastering the ceiling and walls, painting common areas, adding outlets, and replacing a small area of drywall. Unfortunately, Tiago's lack of English proficiency caused communication problems, leading to confusion about the project's scope. Tiago was unable to provide an itemized invoice, instead offering a lump sum quote. The project took a turn for the worse when Tiago began doing poor quality work on the walls and ceiling. When confronted, he became combative and denied responsibility for the unsatisfactory work. Despite having WhatsApp conversations as proof, Tiago stopped communicating and refused to complete the job. The lack of proper communication meant that the project wasn't finished and left in a mess, requiring new workers to complete. The lesson learned was that hiring someone without English proficiency can lead to misunderstandings and result in unprofessionalism. It's better to find someone who can communicate correctly to avoid such issues in the future.
