About
The studio is currently at full capacity. I am an experienced performer and teacher with a full-time position as Assistant Principle Violist in the Hartford Symphony and a faculty member at the Fairfield|Trumbull School of Music. My goal is to make music accessible to all, especially those who have developed a passion later in life. With ten years of experience teaching all levels, I use a teaching style that incorporates elements from my Suzuki training, catering to the needs of each individual student. I am proficient in teaching rigorous technique and music theory, and I can teach any song by ear within a student's playing level. My rates for online lessons are $60/hr, $50/45 mins, and $40/30 mins, and my in-person rates are $65/hr, $55/45 mins, and $45/30 mins. As a unique aspect of my teaching, I can offer professional advice and insight into the music world due to my active performance career.

As an adult learner, I pursued music studies in college, albeit not in strings. This is my first foray into virtual music lessons. I find that these remote sessions are as effective as face-to-face sessions, with added convenience for follow-up communication. The meticulous technical guidance provided is commendable, and the pace of skill acquisition is fitting. Time flies during these lessons, and I have witnessed my musical abilities improve dramatically in a short span. I highly recommend this.

For 10 months now, our kid has been taking violin lessons with Aekyung through Skype, and we can't help but admire her professionalism, adaptability, and meticulousness. Despite the distance, she never fails to guide our child's hand and finger techniques while also paying attention to other often-neglected aspects of online learning. This exemplary teaching service comes highly recommended!

Aekyung stands out from all the violin teachers I've had. As an Asian in my sixties with no prior musical experience, Aekyung's patient guidance has been invaluable. She doesn't just teach me music theory and violin techniques, but she provides me with tools to better understand and memorize the music. Even a simple song is challenging for me as a beginner, but Aekyung has taught me ways to remember it easily. During my second lesson with her, I was able to play without looking at the sheet music. Aekyung approaches teaching with the same perfectionism as a great violin player, paying close attention to finger positions, posture, and lesson organization. Additionally, after each lesson, she sends a detailed note outlining what we covered and what to practice at home. Aekyung respects our lesson time and is always punctual. I am lucky to have found her as my teacher, and I can see myself becoming a proficient violin player in my golden years. I highly recommend Aekyung as an excellent violin teacher to anyone seeking one.
