About
My name is Roberta Thompson, and I am a certified bilingual (English/Spanish) wedding officiant from Santa Maria on the Central Coast of California. I believe in diversity and inclusivity, and have had the honor of officiating 329 ceremonies to date.

My aim is to provide a personalized and memorable experience for your special event, whether it be a wedding, elopement, hospital emergency ceremony, military deployment, vow renewal, license-signing, commitment ceremony, baby naming, or celebration of life. I am willing to travel to various venues such as homes, vineyards, parks, boats, chapels, hotels, government buildings, and more.

As part of my all-inclusive fee, I provide a customized ceremony script, unlimited contact, marriage license filing, witness instructions, travel expenses, and a scanned copy of the marriage license. Note that I do not typically attend rehearsals, but can do so for an additional negotiated fee.

I am available for video chats, calls, texts, and emails, as well as in-person meetings. Active duty military couples are eligible for a 10% discount. Keep in mind that fees may vary for events outside my usual travel area and for bilingual ceremonies.

Lastly, virtual weddings are reserved for commitment ceremonies and specific incarcerated individuals only. I hold certification from numerous organizations including the American Marriage Ministries and have graduated from the Wedding Merchant Business Academy. Additionally, I am a member of Central Coast Wedding Professionals and the International Association of Professional Wedding Officiants, and am insured by Performing Entertainers & Event Professionals.

Roberta was truly amazing. She gave us ample information and specifics that greatly aided in planning our wedding day and obtaining our marriage license. On the big day itself, she was thoroughly prepared, composed and conducted herself in a professional manner. I could not have chosen a more suitable person to officiate my wedding. My current spouse and I were extremely anxious to recite our own vows, so Roberta fashioned one for us that was both charming and personalized. Every word she spoke was stunning and specifically tailored to our story. Despite the rain on our wedding day, a few days earlier, I spoke with Roberta regarding the situation, and she empathetically helped me discover an even more picturesque venue for our ceremony. Roberta was an exceptional officiant! Throughout our two meetings, she skillfully took detailed notes each time. On our wedding day, she arrived well-prepared and the ceremony was exactly what we hoped for and more! I expressed my desire for our sponsors/witnesses to partake in the ceremony and Roberta came up with a spectacular idea of having them sign the marriage certificate DURING the ceremony and also guide us through the lasso and vow book presentation! She even incorporated the younger ones, which was absolutely adorable! Overall, Roberta exceeded all expectations and personalized our ceremony to perfectly reflect our non-religious preferences. Instead of delivering a blessing, she imparted meaningful words of wisdom. Moreover, Roberta took care to honor my late grandfather with a moment of silence, which was truly touching. Heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Roberta - if I could rate her with 100 stars, I certainly would!
