Juan was our go-to person when we had to replace our complete pool system including the pump, heater, and light. Regrettably, Juan and his partner Wilmar opted not to return after being given the opportunity to open the pool on April 30th. Initially, they had agreed to alternate weekly visits but on the opening day, Wilmar proposed to postpone it to May 7th to familiarize themselves with the pool and system. We agreed to their request and paid them. However, when the water system had two red lights, I contacted Juan who later informed me that they were unfamiliar with our salt system board or panel. He promised to read about it and get back to me. Ten minutes later, I discovered that the panel had three red lights, so I called Juan who instructed me to turn it off.
Juan confirmed his arrival for May 7th but did not show up. He later texted that he would come on Mother’s Day, but we never heard from him despite waiting for him all day. I tried to contact him on Monday but he would not pick up my calls until he finally texted back saying that they felt offended because I had asked if they knew about how my systems worked and that they were not coming back. I was shocked but reminded him that he had earlier stated that he did not know our system. I also expressed my disappointment at his lack of professionalism.
Juan had earlier refused to sign a service contract, mistaking it for a request to pay for the system. I had no business card from him but offered to put a sticker of his company on my car, which I was glad not to have done. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Juan and am extremely disappointed in my fellow Latinos. As someone who treats contractors like family, Juan's behavior was unacceptable.
Lastly, Juan took our Hot Tub filter, but I doubt if he will return it as promised.
