Upon returning from a walk with my 3.5 year old Chocolate Lab, I feel compelled to share our experience. For the past 3.4 years, walking her on a leash had been unbearable, as she would pull us down the road and act overly friendly towards other people and dogs, resulting in frequent challenges. Seeking a solution, we stumbled upon Pat at Regional K9 and decided to give his methods a try. After reading all the 5-star reviews, we decided to take our one-year-old Corgi-chihuahua mix, Charlie, to Pat for training. Charlie had developed some anxiety issues, including being quite dog-reactive, pulling on walks, and being wary of strangers. Although Charlie is a small dog, we wanted to address these bad habits to make our lives less stressful and hopefully improve Charlie's wellbeing. Pat described his program and assessed Charlie's needs during a one-hour meeting with me, my husband, and Charlie. We left Charlie with Pat for five days, and the change we saw when we picked him up was astounding. Charlie was focused on us for guidance, walked calmly on leash, and obeyed commands brilliantly, even in the car. We have continued with Pat's program, despite the hard work required on our part. We have had to alter our interactions with Charlie and our expectations of dog-human relationships. However, the payoff has been tremendous. We now have a wonderful, well-behaved dog who seems to be so much happier since he knows exactly what is expected of him.

I encountered Pat after rescuing a one-year-old mixture of a whippet and black lab who was in desperate need of training, although I wasn’t aware of the extent of her needs. Pat was a professional, reliable, and knowledgeable expert who saw my frustration and recommended the 10-day boarding program. I agreed with him, but the only problem was his unavailability for about three weeks. Nonetheless, I was willing to wait. As the days went by, my dog's behavior became too much for me to manage, and I realized that I couldn't offer her what she required, such as a large fenced area to run and an immense amount of time. I communicated with Pat and informed him that I intended to return her to the foster care. He immediately offered to keep her over the weekend and work with her, then reassess the situation. I was on board with the idea, but after lengthy discussions with the foster and those closest to me, it was decided that it would be best for Abby to reside in a more suitable home. When I informed Pat, he was understanding and reassuring. When the time comes to consider rescuing an animal again, regional K-9's help will undoubtedly be sought.
