About
As a seasoned performer and instructor, I possess a wealth of knowledge in various genres such as bluegrass, old-time, western swing, and jazz. I possess exceptional skills in handling adult beginners, particularly those transitioning from classical violin to fiddle (as I did myself). With a great deal of patience and organization, I am delighted to work with both novice and advanced musicians while tailoring my teaching to meet their specific needs and objectives. My teaching style prioritizes impeccable tone production, technique, and focuses on learning tunes as well as improvisation.

Currently, I am actively involved in performances with the Beantown Buckaroos (western swing), the Foggy Mt. Consort (renaissance/bluegrass fusion), and the Squeezebox Stompers (Cajun/Zydeco).

Throughout the years, I've had multiple music instructors for various instruments, but Art is undoubtedly the most exceptional! Since I'm an adult novice on the violin, I find myself preoccupied and unable to progress as swiftly as a child. Regrettably, many teachers lack the necessary patience when it comes to pupils like me. However, Art is remarkably patient, he articulates lessons in a comprehensible manner, and he even tolerates my poor-quality violin's unpleasant sounds. I wholeheartedly endorse him!

Art, a phenomenal music educator, possesses an impressive repertoire that encompasses various genres of music. Furthermore, he meticulously customizes his instruction to meet your level of proficiency and personal preferences. Additionally, he effortlessly transitions to using Zoom during COVID-19 quarantine periods. Furthermore, Art's response time over the phone and through text is impressive. His flexibility is admirable, especially when accommodating shifting lesson schedules for clients, such as myself, with eccentric work hours. As a former violin player, I yearned to return to this musical instrument. During our initial session, Art inquired about my musical aspirations and learning preferences, such as the choice between by ear or using sheet music, while also imparting necessary music theory fundamentals. Moreover, I've enjoyed the opportunity to participate in stimulating and informative group lessons and observed Art perform live with his diverse music ensembles. Ultimately, Art's personalized approach to coaching the violin has rekindled my passion for playing. Due to his practical and engaging instructions, I've made great strides in my skill set. To sum up, I genuinely believe that Art's coaching approach is unparalleled.
