About
Greetings! My name is Coach John Pat Swift and I possess a rich background in basketball. For three years, I played the position of shooting guard for the Hunter College Varsity. Subsequently, I coached basketball players ranging from the ages of 6 to 46 for a span exceeding 16 years.

Prior to my relocation to the Bay Area in 2013, I established and managed the Swift Basketball Training Academy in New York City for youths aiming to elevate their performance on the court. I have numerous references available and cherish the close bonds that I have formed with the families I have worked with and continue to work with. In my life, basketball has played a pivotal role, providing me with countless opportunities and positive relationships. As a universal sport, it transcends cultures, and learning and teaching the game remains my passion.

In 2008, I served as the Athletic Director for the Holthouse Boys and Girls Club in the second ward of Houston, Texas. During this time, I organized basketball tournaments, training sessions, and fundraising events while mentoring coaches and student-athletes. In 2011, I co-founded the Bellaire Basketball camp in Houston. Reflecting on my journey as a basketball player, I contemplate how valuable experiences have impacted my life and how I can impart these lessons to my students as they pursue their goals of becoming the best basketball playerand teammate possible.

Beyond basketball, I possess a flair for learning languages, especially Spanish. After working in the primarily Spanish-speaking second ward, I lived, worked, and traveled throughout South America to acquire fluency in Spanish. In 2009, I cycled from Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost point in South America, to Houston, Texas. During this trip, I wrote articles, gave radio interviews, recorded videos for the Spanish textbook "Teachers Discovery" and the education website "Speaking Globally," and maintained my personal blog.

In addition to my experience in basketball, I have worked extensively with children, serving as a mentor. I am enthusiastic about residing, teaching, and coaching in the Houston area and eager to assist young athletes in improving their basketball skills and overall development.

Coach Pat has an exceptional ability to simplify the game and make it intelligible for children. He is undoubtedly the one to go to if you are seeking a coach. Sending my son and daughter to learn from Coach Pat has been the most beneficial decision for their game.
