Matheus Voice Studio

Matheus Coura, a Brazilian-American countertenor, has been highly acclaimed for his rich voice by SF Gate, his spontaneous performances by Voce di meche, and his ability to convey beauty and emotion in his singing by SF Classical Voice. He has graced the stage with the San Francisco Ballet, West Edge Opera, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Ars Minerva for the roles of Narcissus, Giuliano, Ottone, Andronico, Bertarido, and Teucro, respectively. Coura has won the Cooper-Bing Competition and is a finalist in the Bethlehem Bach Competition.

As a dedicated music educator and an operatic countertenor, Coura is enthusiastic about teaching his students a reliable and personalized vocal technique. He strives to create a fun and nurturing environment to help his students achieve their music dreams. Coura's students have been accepted into some of the most prestigious arts magnet schools and pre-college programs, such as Manhattan School of Music, Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Lavilla School of the Arts, and ensembles like the San Francisco Boys Chorus and the Jacksonville Children's Chorus.

Coura's students have consistently earned superior ratings, including the "Best in Show" in the Musical Theatre and Classical Voice categories at the Florida State Solo & Ensemble festival. He has also coached students to score 4s and 5s in their AP Music Theory Exams. Coura's students have been awarded scholarships to attend the University of Michigan and Calvin College. Additionally, some of his students have successfully produced CDs, performed in rock and indie bands, and pursued musical opportunities in college. Coura takes immense pride in the success of his students and is delighted to see them spreading the joy of music everywhere they go. For Coura, teaching music is incredibly rewarding.
