For those who are considering installation of recessed lights, it's worth noting that if your ceiling lacks attic access, the installers will need to make small cuts in the walls to run wires from the switch box to the recessed lights. These cuts will need to be patched and painted at the completion of the installation, a task that the electricians won't handle. Overall, the project has two phases: installation of the recessed lights by the electrician, followed by patching and painting of the walls/ceilings (either by yourself or a separate painter).
