"The worker began the job two days late and failed to inform me that he wouldn't be coming until the day of at 8:15am which was unprofessional. Upon arrival, he attempted to move a wire in the wall and... read more hide the junction box, which is not up to code. I had to call an electrician to rectify the situation. Later, the worker left the job site with only one person left to do the sheetrock work. Although they did a good job, we were supposed to have had the tub installation, hardie board up, and red guard done on the first day. Due to the worker leaving, not much was accomplished. When I inquired about the alcove tub, the worker gave incorrect information, stating that the hardie board should go before the tub; however, the hardie board should be placed over the lip of the tub and tiled to it. When the worker returned after a four-hour absence, he had forgotten his chipper, so the tub and shower pan installation did not take place. I called a plumber who had previously installed the rough-in valves to install the tub correctly. He stated that the shower pan membrane should go behind the hardie board. I asked the worker to return at 11:30am once the plumber had finished. When he arrived, the plumber informed him that the hardie board had been installed incorrectly, explaining how to fix it the correct way. The worker then left the job site and returned my first and only check. Although he displayed excellent business ethics by returning my check, his skill set was inadequate, and I would rate him only one star in that regard. Overall, the experience was a waste of time, and although we did not lose any money, the project is now behind schedule. This serves as a warning to buyers that giving a worker an excellent rating does not necessarily mean that they will complete the job correctly, and it's critical to monitor how the work is being done. read less"

"Tiago was hired to finish a tile job which he did successfully. However, the project also included demolishing the kitchen, re-plastering the ceiling and walls, painting common areas, adding outlets, ... read moreand replacing a small area of drywall. Unfortunately, Tiago's lack of English proficiency caused communication problems, leading to confusion about the project's scope. Tiago was unable to provide an itemized invoice, instead offering a lump sum quote. The project took a turn for the worse when Tiago began doing poor quality work on the walls and ceiling. When confronted, he became combative and denied responsibility for the unsatisfactory work. Despite having WhatsApp conversations as proof, Tiago stopped communicating and refused to complete the job. The lack of proper communication meant that the project wasn't finished and left in a mess, requiring new workers to complete. The lesson learned was that hiring someone without English proficiency can lead to misunderstandings and result in unprofessionalism. It's better to find someone who can communicate correctly to avoid such issues in the future. read less"
