Nicholas Oliver

With more than 15 years of experience teaching piano, composition, and ear training, I am a seasoned pianist, composer, and educator who has worked with students of all levels, from beginners to professionals. My teaching methodology is built on the concept that music is a language, and I aim to help my students identify and comprehend musical elements in real time while also developing their expertise in playing, sight-reading, and improvisation. I personalize each lesson to align with the individual goals of my students, offering step-by-step guidance to achieve their objectives, regardless of their preferred musical styles, be it Jazz, Classical, Pop, Funk, Blues, etc.

I hold a degree in Jazz and Improvisation from Monash University (Melbourne), attended Jazz Programs at NYU and in Italy, and have studied classical repertoire with the highly acclaimed pianist Dr Donna Coleman. As a professional performing artist and composer for the last 15 years, I have played in venues ranging from small clubs to grand concert halls and have also scored music for films.

I offer both in-person and remote lessons and provide a complimentary introductory session. My fee includes all necessary materials, lesson summaries, and musical analysis.
