My private studio is located in Long Island City, just a five-minute walk from Court Square 23rd St Station (E,M,7 train) and a seven-minute walk from Queensboro Plaza Station (N,W,7 train). Alternatively, I can come to your location for your convenience, saving you commuting time.
I am Rintaro Mikami, a professional drummer, percussionist, composer, and educator based in NYC. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The New School College of Performing Arts, School of Jazz and Contemporary major. I regularly perform at local venues in NYC such as Ornithology Jazz Club and Rockwood Music Hall, and have taught drums to students ranging from child (from 4 years old!) to adult, always making sure that the lessons are fun and enjoyable.
My lessons will be tailored to your goals, interests, and level, with a curriculum designed to suit your individual needs. Topics covered include technique, rhythm and coordination, reading, style study (Jazz, Funk, Rock, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and more!), soloing, and listening.
