Joyce Simpson

After 11 years in Las Vegas where she used her 3-octave voice to sing music lyrics and on commercial radio, JOYCE SIMPSON returned to the Philadelphia/South Jersey area. In Las Vegas, she became acquainted with some of the local jazz greats and was the vocalist with The Las Vegas All-Stars, led by composer, arranger, and trombonist Al Imbach. Additionally, she performed with The Jim Fitzgerald Big Band in Monterey, California, The Paul McDonald Big Band in Westminster, CA, and with the Jimmy Hemming Orchestra in Las Vegas. She graced such Las Vegas locations as JUST JAZZ, The Hit Parade at The Suncoast Casino, The Italian American Club, Montelago Village at Lake Las Vegas and performed as a guest with NRQ (New Rhythm Quartet) at Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurants.

Joyce lived in Durango, CO where she sang with the “J.S. Trio” featuring saxophonist/flutist Jeff Solon and pianist Jeff Sweet who later recorded their “J.S. Trio” CD, a collection of classic jazz standards. She performed regularly with pianist Gary Walker at the Mahogany Grille in the Strater Hotel.

Joyce’s onstage presence is often favorably compared to classic performers like Sarah, Dinah, and Nancy. As an accomplished musician, she plays the flute and piano, and has done numerous club appearances worldwide like The Baked Potato in Pasadena, CA, JJ’s in Hong Kong, and The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble at Philadelphia’s famous Zanzibar Blue Restaurant. She sang the national anthem at NBA 76ers games while in Philadelphia and enjoyed a brief stint in musical theatre. Her song “If By Chance” placed third in Billboard Magazine’s National Songwriters Contest.

Joyce is regularly in transit between the east and west coasts with her distinct mix of sweet and sultry, captivating audiences everywhere!
